Which authentication method should I choose?

Application Password (recommended)

Requires WordPress 5.6+ and HTTPS. Go to WP Admin → Users → Profile → scroll to "Application Passwords" → generate one.

XML-RPC (universal fallback)

Works on any WordPress version, HTTP or HTTPS. Uses your regular WP admin password. XML-RPC is enabled by default on all WordPress sites.
